Rev. Kelsey Brown’s Ordination

Ordained to word and sacrament

Ordination in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is the moment a candidate is set apart for ministry of word and sacrament — called by a congregation, examined by the synod, and then prayed over with the laying on of hands by the bishop and by other pastors gathered for the service.

For Jehu’s Table it was also the end of a long road: a mission congregation in East New York calling its own pastor, in its own building, on its own terms.
